Smartphones are sensitive electronics devices. For normal use the rated maximum ambient temperature is 95 degrees (F). You can easily exceed that outside most summer days in the South, shooting in bright sunshine, and in studios without air conditioning. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures will overheat the phone, resulting in being unable to upload photos, an inconsistent wifi connection, sluggish operation, iVana closing, automatic phone shutdown, and even bursting the battery.
Recover from heat stroke
If you get errors like those above, first cool down your device. See our tips below.
Then use iVana like normal and make sure you have a good wifi connection. If you continue to see file uploading with no progress, then the files may be damaged. Try the following in order of severity.
- Go to Settings and then 4K iVana. Do a Force stop and restart iVana.
- Go to Settings and then 4K iVana. Clear Storage and restart iVana*.
- Remove 4K iVana*. Download it from Google Play Store. Start iVana and review and. update the settings as needed.
* This may result in pictures in the Upload queue being removed. You'll need to reshoot these vehicles.
Keep Cool
Here are a few tips to avoid overheating, whether shooting in the studio or outside.
- Provide proper cooling and air flow in the studio.
- Install small portable fans next to fixed cameras.
- Keep the phone out of direct sunlight.
- Reduce screen brightness to 50%.
- Reduce screen timeout to a low period such as one minute.
- Bring the phone inside the store or turn the phone off when not in use.
- Make sure your Android software is regularly updated
- Keep the phone in a cooler with ice when not actively shooting.
