No. It's not mandatory. But it is highly recommended.
The inventory data feed is a CSV file listing current (not sold) vehicles with info like vin, stock number, year, make, model, etc. You create and upload this file in industry-standard format via FTP. We read it once a day to update our records.
This vehicle info is used to make it easy to shoot and manage your vehicles in EZ360 software.
- In iVana (the mobile app used to shoot vehicles), you only need enter the short stock number to identy a vehicle. If you don't provide a data feed or the data feed has not yet updated with vehicle information, we won't have the stock number. So you'll have to enter the full 17 character VIN so we know what vehicle to associate with the pictures. Manually entering the VIN will result in operator entry errors since it's so long.
- In iContent (the back-end vehicle and picture manager), vehicles for which there are no data feed info (like the top vehicle below), display in the vehicle summary with no or default information. That makes it difficult to identify, search, and filter vehicles if needed to edit pictures.
The lack of a feed and vehicle information does not affect the display of photos and media on your website since they use the vin, which can be manually entered before shooting.
